Sihteeriyhdisys website, a comprehensive package of graphic design and technical expertise
The Sihteeriyhdistys – Sekreterarföreningen ry is a nationwide non-profit professional association for secretaries and assistants. The association was founded in 1960 and currently has about 950 members all over Finland. The purpose of the association is to promote interaction between secretaries and to raise their professional qualifications and recognition.
MeKiwi had the pleasure of designing a new visual identity for the Sihteeriyhdisys, with a new logo, typography and website. The aim was to do a complete facelift and give a modern look to the association. Freshness, elegance and expertise were the guiding principles throughout the design process. The website went through a complete overhaul in terms of visuals, content and technology. As a platform, we chose the WordPress publishing system, which allows us to build a customised website.

The website of the Sihteeriyhdistys was last updated six years ago. We were not happy with the site even when new, so it went through many different updates without a specific plan in mind. We received constant feedback from external parties that the key informations were not easy to find on the website. That’s why we decided to redesign the site to better serve our visitors and create a positive image of what we do. We wanted to start from scratch when designing the website. Our aim was to clarify the key activities of the association and make it as easy as possible to become a member.
We ended up posting a LinkedIn survey of companies in the Oulu area, and based on the recommendations, we selected a few. We visited these companies and as a result of the meetings we chose MeKiwi to implement the project. We immediately felt we were speaking the same language and that they understood our needs and the nature of the association.
The cooperation went smoothly throughout the project. They were very proactive with us. The clear goal was to have a good website in the agreed time. As the project progressed, we also decided to revamp our association’s logo and images in line with Mekiwi’s suggestions.
We are pleased with our new sleek look and clear website. They now reflect us well and are crisp, clear and logical. We have received excellent feedback on the new look and site, especially from outsiders.

The minimal site focused on the essentials. The content was pruned and restructured to make it easy for visitors to find all the information they need. We also took new photos for the website. The overall look is now smooth, clear and accessible. The modern and fresh look has received a lot of praise, from both members and visitors alike.
We also managed to revamp the look of the Sihteeriyhdistys Secretariusmagazine and update the marketing materials to match the new look. “The project was very comprehensive and extremely rewarding from the Designer’s point of view,” says Salla, the designer responsible for the project.
